What is OLAP?

I sought formal definition of OLAP. It’s wery interesting.

1. Nigel Pendse “What is OLAP?” (http://www.olapreport.com/fasmi.htm)

2. http://olap.com (http://olap.com/w/index.php/OLAP_Education_Wiki)

3. OLAP and related terms (http://keywen.com/en/OLAP)

4. OLAP definition (http://www.yourdictionary.com/computer/olap)

5. OLAP glossary (http://pagesperso-orange.fr/bernard.lupin/english/glossary.htm)

I think it is quite enough.

Finally   “What is OLAP?”

– OLAP is a tool or technology of data processing (?)

– OLAP is a tool or technology of data visualization (?)

– OLAP is a tool or technology of data representation (?)

– OLAP is a class of system which include the above (?)

– OLAP is a class of system which include the above or something from this or something else (?)

and…   What do you think about formal definition of OLAP?
