What is OLAP cube?

In OLAP, queries are made against structures called OLAP cubes.

An OLAP cube is a multidimensional database in which the dimension attributes (that is, coordinates) determine the measure values. For example, the dimensions can be the time, customer, product, and the measure the profit.
